SuperLyan is the first bar outside of the UK from world renowned mixologist, Ryan Chetiyawardana (AKA Mr Lyan). Set in a 17th century townhouse in Amsterdam, the all-day bar serves up stroopwafels, donuts and coffee by day, incredible cocktails and snacks by night.
The identity needed to share the Mr Lyan brand DNA (innovation, dedication to craft and ‘elevated irreverence’) whilst also having its own personality, as the ‘twisted sibling’ within the Lyan family.
The word-mark and the lightning bolt ‘S’ mark are a modern take on graphic novels - ‘super’, but in a more elevated way. The illustrations were created to add a playfully dark alter ego to the brand - referencing the day/night offering. For flexibility, each illustration was created as both key line versions and as full-colour pin badges. The ‘pop’ colour palette was intended to feel ‘modern kitsch’ - referencing the 50s influenced interiors.
