Sy-j is a creative hybrid, a designer & art director forged in the furnaces of multi-disciplinary branding and advertising agencies. She has spent the last 2 decades creating work for global brands such as Target, Gap, Google, Swarovski, EMI Records, Howies, Condé Nast, Time Magazine and Nike. And with Nike, her gateway into advertising, via Wieden & Kennedy (Amsterdam, London, Shanghai). Her work has been featured in Campaign, Grafik, Lürzer’s Int’l Archive, Idea, Design Week, Creative Review, Graphics International, and recognized by Graphis Design, Design Week, and D&AD among others. She has judged at the Art Directors Club New York, and at Parsons, The New School for Design, New York.
As ECD ( Head of Art & Design ) at FCB New York Sy-j has endeavored to push the conceptual visual thinking, and crafts expression in the campaign work. Under co-CCOs Gabriel Schmidt and Michael Aimette, and with a new focus on design at the agency, she has been an integral part of new business wins of the past year, Axe, Centrum and Florida Blue among them, and has helped grow client work to include Spotify, Clinique, AB InBev and Tommy Hilfiger. FCB was recently named AdWeek’s 2020 Global Agency of the Year.
