Rosanna thinks big. As a cultural strategist and creative director her work explores how places speak to us and how we speak back. With narrative and experience design as her tools, her work reinvents our relationship with the diverse realms we inhabit, from vast public parklands to cultural institutions to beloved brand homes. If there’s a city or a space with a story, she’s there.
Rosanna works with the world’s most well-loved brands, conceptualizing immersive spaces for Museo Lavazza in Turin, IBM at Lincoln Centre, NYC, and Lego House in Denmark, winning accolades including SXSW Interactive Awards, SEGD and Art Directors Club Gold along the way.
Drawing this understanding of experience design outdoors, she has co-created new narratives for wondrous cultural parklands including Austin, Texas’ newest destination, Waterloo Greenway, and London’s Olympic Park. And shaped future visions for some of the world’s most significant cultural districts such as Museum of London at Smithfield; Moffet Park, California, with Google; and Tian Fu Art Town, Chengdu, China.
She draws this together as co-founder of The Place Bureau, a strategic studio that shapes the future of destinations by bringing greater insight, imagination, and impact to shape the culture and identity of our cities and spaces. Leading to this she worked at a senior level in NYC, London and Barcelona with Bruce Mau Design, Ralph Appelbaum Associates and Studio Astrid Stavro.
Rosanna believes that any of us can play a role in shaping the spaces around us, so knowledge-sharing and co-design are key. Rosanna is a Research Associate at Central Saint Martins, and has taught at Parsons and Pratt, NYC; the Architectural Association and London School of Architecture, and is a trustee at Participatory City, the world’s first co-created participatory ecosystem at scale. She creates platforms for others to share their creative intuition around places and spaces: from podcasts at PlaceLabs to interviews on Local Legends; from the community of adventurers that is No Fixed Abode Club to a container full of radio hosts in Brooklyn at BBOX Radio.
